The best talks come from people who thought they had nothing to say.
From someone who…
- built a system that shouldn’t have worked – and did anyway
- made a mistake their whole team learned from
- found a solution so straightforward it almost felt too obvious to share.
That’s exactly what the Open Tech Day 2026 audience is there for.
What is Open Tech Day about?
Open Tech Day 2026 is about the next evolution of software-defined storage. As data volumes keep growing, so do the demands on modern, resilient, and scalable storage architectures. The conference takes a close look at distributed systems, cloud-native designs, and the technologies redefining how data infrastructures are built and operated – all built on open source.

What are we looking for?
Not polished slide decks. Real experiences. More specifically:
- Deep technical insights – go into the details, the audience can handle it
- Real-world use cases – what did you build, how does it hold up in production?
- Honest lessons learned – especially the „we’d do this differently today“ moments
- Demos that make people put their phones down
- Open source projects that deserve more attention
Which format suits you?
You get to choose between two formats:
- Ignite Talk (5 minutes) – auto-advancing slides, fast and focused. Perfect if you have an idea worth sharing but don’t need a full 30-minute slot around it
- Regular Talk (30 minutes incl. Q&A) – room to go deep, provide context, and have a real conversation with the audience
When’s the deadline?
The Call for Papers is open until May 31, 2026. That’s just a few days away. If you’re reading this and thinking about it – stop thinking.
