This year’s Open Source Infrastructure Conference was more than a full success. We enjoyed three days full of fun, community feeling, and of course very inspiring speaker talks. It was a pleasure to have so many open-minded and awesome people here with us in Nuremberg! Thanks for Your Participation! That’s why I’d like to take the opportunity and shout out a big “Thank You” to everyone who made OSMC 2022 an absolutely exciting and unforgettable event! It was a big honor to welcome so...

OSMC 2022 | A Full Success
A Warm Welcome Finally the time has come! Our OSMC 2022 has started - this year without any restrictions. Thanks to Lukas and Markus, who took care of the planning like every year! Everything went flawlessly this time as well. We were very happy about all attendees and contributors who made this event to something unforgettable! Our Workshop Day At the beginning this year a workshop day opened the OSMC. The following workshops were offered: Icinga Director and Director Branches Workshop...
OSMC 2022 | Recap Day 3
The third and last day of the OSMC 2022 has come to an end. Once again it looks like there is not enough time for all the talks be heard and all the conversations to be had. But waiting until everyone is bored would likely be worse. I visited some of the talks of this day, which I would like to mention. This is, by no means, a testimony to the quality or ingenuity of those or other talks, I haven't seen, but rather a consequence of personal interest and limited time. Here is what I learned: In...
OSMC 2022 | Recap Day 2
Today I have the pleasure to recap our second OSMC conference day and thus the many great talks of our wonderful speakers! I started my OSMC day with the initial talk of the day after meeting and greeting colleagues and customers alike. OSMC is always a good opportunity not only to catch up with latest developments and monitoring trends but also to catch up with people. Our CEO Bernd Erk kicked off the day with a dazzling small welcome and introduction also introducing our Gold sponsors. Our...
OSMC 2022 | Recap Day 1

In a calm but constructive and educational environment, our experienced trainers provide theoretical insights and practical exercises in...

OSMC – Behind the Scenes
Faces behind OSMC Overall organizers Lukas and Markus are the core of OSMC. They’re working in the Events-team and have planned OSMC well in advance. Our awesome moderators Marc, Lennart, David and Alex S. moderated the entire conference. They announced the next talks and were responsible for adjusting the microphones for the speakers. Check-in guys Lukas, Katja and I were responsible for making sure the check-in went smoothly. We checked the tickets and the certificates...
OSMC 2021 | Recap Day 3
The third and last day of the OSMC 2021 concludes the event for the year and, appropriatly, it is rather calm. Where the other days were full of talks, today only two events took place. Due to the smaller number of participants these take place in the NETWAYS / Icinga office space and bring back some life to rooms, which were rather empty in the last year. Hackathon In the container ecosystem, Kubernetes is an important player and worth taking a look at. Deploying, scaling and maintaining...
OSMC 2021 | Recap Day 2
After an extremely successful and excellently planned evening event yesterday, the second day of the OSMC 2021 started today. Apart from the people who had to leave already, or those who still had to recover from the boozy late lounge, the first two talks were well attended. Toshaan Bharvani with "Monitoring Open Source Hardware" and Denys Kondratenko with "pg_stat_monitor: A cool extension for better database (PostgeSQL) monitoring" took the lead. Jakob Semere then presented their open source...
OSMC 2021 | Recap Day 1
It's time for OSMC again and contrary to recent event experiences, it is in presence with real people! And it is nice for a change! A full program offers much input to the visitors and showcases the things people created or changed since the last OSMC. After the cordial greeting by Bernd, the talks started. A small selection of these I will mention here. On the bleeding edge of... "On the bleeding edge of Open Telemetry" was the topic of Philipp Krenns talk. The growing complexity of current...
OSMC 2019 – Day 2
The social event yesterday evening was a blast and the late lounge afterwards also a must. So while some were still recovering, the room for the first talk was already quite full. This showed the interest in Jochen Kressin's talk about "Zero Trusted Networks – why Perimeter Security is dead". He explained the (old) assumption of perimeter security "I am behind a firewall, so my traffic is secure" and asked the question if this is still true. Showing examples proving it is not true anymore...
OSMC 2019 – Day 1
As always OSMC started with the workshop day. This time the topics were Prometheus given by Julian Pivotto, Gitlab by Michael, Terraform by Lennart and Foreman by me. After the workshops with coming together for dinner and some drink social networking started, one of things I enjoy most at conferences nowadays. Day one started also like every time with a warm welcome from Bernd. Quite unexpected for me was the high number of first time attendees who raised hands when Bernd asked. It is always...
